If I colour my natural black hair to chestnut brown, wil the colour turns out coppery or golden brown

I have natural black hair and I have always wanted to have chestnut brown or medium ash brown hair colour. I went to professional salon for colouring. But it always seems to turns out looking coppery or golden brown which makes my hair looks dry n rusty. I need to know is there any particular way I can achive chestnut brown hair colour without having any red tones in it?

Please help me!

Thank You!

Chestnut brown = red tones
Medium ash brown = no red tones

I think you need to first determine which one of these you want. If you go to a hairstylist and ask for a chestnut brown, you are asking for those red tones. If you don't like the red, just ask for a nice cool, ashy brown and see if they will show you some swatches of what they have. The key here is to not confuse your hair stylist! ;)

Definitely go to a hair salon if you do it with a drug store brand, it probably won't even show up in your hair.
