What kind of highlights would look well with my skin tone and hair color?

My skin tone used to be beige but since i tanned last year alot now my pigment has remained darker.

My hair is starting to grow out, yay! And when it get's really long I want some highlights but I have never had highlights throughout my hair. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance! Also, my natural hair color is a shade darker than shown in the pic, like a dark brown, as an FYI, i want natural looking highlights. Not crazy colors :)

I think that we could possibly have the same hair color, I have a light brown highlights in my hair (i cant remember the exact shade, but its 2 shades lighter than my normal hair)
A word of warning though, be careful if you want RED highlights, a few of my friends put it in their hair (they also have dark brown hair) and after a few weeks, the red started going slightly orange.
My best advice is; stick to a shade a few shades lighter than your hair, use a good dye and rather get someone to do if for you if it is your first time

So I think maybe ash blond highlights will really show off your tan. And Isy is right. Highlights are really sooooo hard to do, that havinga stylist or a friend who knows what she/he is doing is definitely the way 2 go.
