Serious de-clutter time.

I really need to de-clutter my closet. Its a mess. It looks pretty normal from a far view but once you go in I have shelves of old notebooks and magazines, boxes of God knows what, SOOOO many old clothes i need to pull out of there and just a bunch of stuff my mom asked me to store in my closet just stuffed everywhere! I'm one of those people who's OCD about stuff looking nice, but hates taking the time to do it. Do you guys have tips for de-clutttering step-by-step? Ways to do it where I can get the stuff I need to keep organized and get rid of all that stuff I don't. What do I do with it all??? Thank you so much I could really use your help! =)

i first start off with trash bags

one for donation if you haven't worn it in the last year donate it someone will use it

one for off season. it's summer pack away all your winter stuff

everything that's out i like to keep my clothes color coordinated but yes it won't stay that way forever lol

you don't need all those old mags. yes get rid of them, recycle them, or actually set a day to look through them and keep anything of real importance and tear those pages out and keep them in a folder. (makeup tips and stuff like that have relevance but everything else you don't need)

get boxes (shoe boxes are great and they stack very well) put old momentos in these and just stack them. one for your mom's stuff, one for your stuff.

sort out stuff by category, find some containers to put them in - keep, donate, discard or maybe even sell. Then do as the label says..LOL! I did some serious de-cluttering when we had to move to another city since excess baggage when traveling can be such a hassle..and expensive!! that's how i did it and yes, we set up a yard sale! i never thought people would be for bidding for our old stuff! i sold everything from clothes, shoes, toys to pans, plates and clocks.. it was a lot of fun!

then you can start organizing from there. store books and magazines in a shelf, get a shoe rack for shoes and as much as possible, use the closet exclusively for your clothes.
