Herpes from making out?

I heard that if someone has herpes in their mouth and you kiss them you can get it too. It sounds reasonable but I wanted to know for sure if it was true. That grosses me out! i love kissing, how do I know if somebody has herpes???? Isn't there not always signs??? What can I do?? I don't wanna just stop kissing people!

Yes, it is possible to get Herpes from kissing/making out. Oral Herpes can usually be seen in the form of a cold sore or fever blisters on the lips or inside the mouth or around the face. In other words, tiny pockets of liquid filled blisters that are clear. It's the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSVtype1) which can come as reoccurant infections. The infections may leave at one point and reoccur after a while but they can come back for a variety of reasons such as sun exposure etc. Just becareful, you can also get it from sharing drinks, sharing chapsticks/lip gloss, kissing etc. Although I wouldn't kiss everyone or random people for more reasons than the Herpes Virus, I do believe the Acquired Immuno-deficiency (AIDs) virus can be aquired via fluid transactions. Obviously not hugging or touching a person as was taught, but kissing well making out and obviously sex could also get you them, as well as alot of other unnamed ones. Not to be a harbinger of morals and whatnot, I wouldn't go around kissing every guy that says they have feelings for me , especially not knowing backgrounds, who've they've been with etc

and my rule of thumb if they say they have a 'cold soar' it just may be a herpies blister

Oh I totally get that I'm not going around kissing random guys and I don't plan to have sex until I'm married but I know that boyfriends have concealed STDs from girls when they go to have sex and I was just thinking in terms of a boyfriend not telling me. But thanks so much for your help!
