need help fast!

this is kinda weird but i have a phobia of gory stuff or even teachers just talking about it. And for some reason they love to do it. my hands get all sweaty and my face goes all pale and i get really dizzy, so i have to fake that i have to go to the washroom just so i can leave the class. its embarrasing and its been going on for years now. any suggestions?

firstly, what type of gory stuff? as in.. bloody & squichy stuff like dissecting an eyeball? or gory as in sexual, 'gory' stuff? ha, whatever it is.. youv got to tell yourself this. Fear is in one place you cannot escape: YOUR MIND. Going to the washroom might help for a while, but you have to face ur fears :]

Tell yourself why your scared of it. Confront it.

& if you dont wanna, id say have a private word with your teacher and explain to them about your weakness. They'd understand and would probably send you out the room if theyre being- ah- gory. lol

like midsummer_dreams mentioned, fear is just your mind playing tricks on you. I'm pretty uncomftorable with any gory stuff too, but usually i try to tough it out. When the subject pops up, just remember to take deep breaths, and the topic will pass soon enough. :-D

your mind is reacting to the gore so you need to start by deconditioning yourself.

1. understand your phobia and what triggers your episodes

2. when you are placed in the situation hearing those disturbing things find something to associate your fear with that has a positive trigger for you. Like puppies, or ice cream....whatever.

3. then now when you hear anything gory start thinking of something positive... eventually you can extinct your phobia once you have desensitized yourself.

Maybe a friend can help you. Like she could start saying gory things to you and when you started feeling dizzy she can give you an bowl of ice cream or something so you can start focusing on something else.

If you really cant handle it, then just talk to your teachers after class and let them know your uncomfortable with that stuff.

Go home and tell your mum or dad to write a letter to your teachers letting them know you need to step out or something when they show/talk about it.

However, you need to get over your fears. I used to be the same way, like i would faint when i even thought there was blood...but i thought of it as something else. it really helped me...even though it is a little crazy haha. Like for blood (if they show u pictures) i would think of it as red punch. lol

Good Luck,
