I disagree with all the answers below. Even if you don't use a razor and you get it done professionally, you're going to get split ends, and that just means you need to clip em off. I cut my own hair ALL the time. My hair grows so fast! It seems like it needs cut every other month and it's too expensive to go out every other month and get it cut by a pro. Since I've been doing it for years (I actually cut my own hair for the first time when I was 13, it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but I got better. Just remember hair grows back!) If you really don't know what you're doing, your best bet is to go on youtube and look up some people cutting their own hair. If this is your first time, don't freak out when you start getting chunks of hair in your hand! Just keep working, and be careful! And as for the dead look that someone else mentioned? Not true. Take vitamins, they help provide nutrients you may lack for your hair. I use a hair masque once a week called DermOrganic, it feels amazing! Also, leave in conditioners will leave your hair feeling soft and smooth. I use them maybe once or twice a week. (it's a 10 miracle leave in, and garnier fructis leave in). Razoring your own hair though, does not mean to stop going to a professional! I go in every 3-4 months or so to get a trim, have them wash or deep condition my hair, and sometimes even thin it. When I get home, if right away I know I want to fix it, I do. Sometimes, I wait a couple weeks before I touch it up with a razor. if you're still nervous about it, print out a picture of exactly what you want and give it to a hair dresser. Before they start cutting your hair, tell them in detail what you want. If you don't want them to touch a part of your hair, then say so! No means no! It's your hair, don't be afraid to speak up. If you want something shorter, say so. Want more edge? Say so! You should be in control when you walk into a hair salon. They are at your mercy, not the other way around!

Message me for sure if you want to know more, or have any questions! Good luck! :D

well, although using a razor will make your hair have look awesome, thats only for a few months at the most. it will cause your hair to have REALLY bad split ends, & then it will just look really dead & dry, and just bad. when you get your hair cut, ask them to put alot of layers in it, & make it really feathery. If not, try going to another place. =)
