Frizzy hair can be really frustrating to deal with, I know! Curly, dry hair can feel coarse and wiry and be difficult to style. What you really want is soft, manageable hair that looks healthy and to get that your hair has to be properly moisturized. Dry hair is just like dry skin — it can simply be a result of your own individual DNA. There are many dry hair treatments you can try out, though. I've heard of some really good ones — even a few dry hair treatments that you can make at home if you’re a DIY kind of girl. You don’t have to live with frizzy hair!

Tea Tree Products

My stylist recommended I use a Paul Mitchell Tea Tree special shampoo because my scalp is dry. It’s a great smelling shampoo that makes my scalp tingle — in a good way — when I use it. It’s a good dry hair treatment because its essential oils don’t strip hair or cause frizzy hair. There are other products in the line that I think could help your frizzy hair, so you should check them out.

Olive Oil

It’s a little strange to me to think about using olive oil on your hair, but you wanted to try something homemade! The bonus is that you don’t have to make it. It comes right out of the bottle ready to go. Supposedly, you can massage olive oil into your scalp and put it through the rest of your hair and use it as a deep conditioning mask. Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse off and shampoo. Sounds like a great dry hair treatment to me! I also hear that other oils can be used instead. Some of the ones that are rumored to help frizzy hair are:

Rosemary oil

Sesame oil

Apricot oil

Egg and Mayonnaise

The combination of egg and mayonnaise is an old school dry hair treatment. These ingredients can help infuse your frizzy hair with protein that can help make it more silky and shiny. Here's what you do: Mix the eggs and mayonnaise together and put it on your frizzy hair for about 30 to 45 minutes. Then rinse.

Conditioning Treatments

There are lots of deep conditioners you can find at the drugstore that are designed for frizzy hair. Avoid using gel or any alcohol based product, which can dry out your hair and cancel out the benefits of your dry hair treatment. If you really want to use a product to hold your hairstyle in place, use a styling cream.

I like using serums. They're silky, kind of oily dry hair treatments that you put in your hair before blow-drying. They’re really good at taming frizzy hair!

my hair is really straight and yes it never likes holding a curl it's also really thick

you can use a heat protectant and get a good curling iron and do sections just be careful not to burn your hair

or i like to yes take my hair just toweled off after a shower, then i twist it up in two really tight buns behind both of my ears and i leave them there until they're dry (sometimes i have to take a blow dryer to them) then finish off with tons of hairspray (sometimes the ones that don't have water in the ingredients hold longer)

My sisters hair is very straight naturally, its pretty long too, when she wants to curl it she uses small medium and large hot rollers, (depending on the places on her head) like the old people. It looks gorgeous, and lasts quite a long time. I have wavy hair so when I curl mine it stays in longer. Make sure you hair spray it! Make sure its a good hairspray or don't expect it to stay in long. The cheap stuff causes breakage and lasts about an hour or two but will go flat long before then. Big Sexy is a great hair brand.

- leave the rollers in for the effect you want (time wise) then brush them out with a big rounded brush.

(your brush shouldn't have those little rubber balls on the end.. the long term effect = breakage, hair falling out, and split ends. Also never brush your hair when its wet.)
