Im 15 and have really low self confidence/esteem, it seems to be getting worse, to the point where I have gone through a stage of being quite depressed, I have recently been trying to improve my "self image" hoping that they may boost my confidence a bit. Ive had people give me compliments on my looks but I dont really believe them-my personal oppinion of myself is that im horrible looking and I know thats wrong to think like that..and would like to try anything to feel better about myself, is there anyone who can give me some advice or have been in the same situation before?

i used to suffer from this proble too , so your're not on your own , i'm quite confident now though , but i didn't grown on it , i had to make myself feel good . i used to wear tons and tons of make-up , but not anymore , i can even leav the house with just blush and lipgloss now .

when you walk down a road , and even when your not feeling confident , tell yourself how beautiful you are , pretend your on top of the world , mind you don't tell people that , they would think your a snob.

do someting new , you can be gorge , but if your hair is a mess , it kills it , so have a totall new hair doo , a new hair colour , and a new cut , do t for YOURSELF ,and not because you want to fit in , or to impress.

belive it when your mates are complimenting you , enless it's ovious there being patronizing , then there prob being genuine .

high heels ALWAYS make a girl feel good anf femine , so learn how to walk in them , first try hedges , then try heels + stilletos .

DON'T go over the top , not that you would, but just in case , make sure you know , it's either legs or clevage(boobs) , not both NEVER EVER both .

well im 14 and i go through that ALOT also...

its really difficult to feel better about yourself when you cant like give YOURSELF compliments.

have you tried writing songs or poetry?

it helps me alot to find myself when i write...

i write myself letters, i write songs, and i write poems.

writing letters to yourself can be a great mood boost! i kno it was for me... i pretended that i was writing to a good freind

MUSIC... that is a great way to boost any mood... not any of that crap like; akon, lil wayne, TI, eckkk HORRIBLE!!!

try... one republic, the fray, coldplay, elle lawson, etc.

dont let your body make you upset, i might not be a size 0 but that doesnt matter! your body is your body and its not going to change. i dont wear all those high priced clothes to school... i feel great when im in a baggy sweatshirt and jeans... its your attitude that counts :D

i have gone through it and its hard.

but don't give up on yourself!!!!

you need to first off get your emotions out somehow.

poetry, music, or i draw.

second, JOIN A CLUB!!!!

i love acting because everyone is different and i know you've heard it before, but its true

they will accept anyone

third- lgo shopping and try on anything, things out of your comfort zone, who knows you may like the new look and it will keep you feeling confident.

fourth- take compliments even if you dont believe them, people wont compliment you if they dont mean it even in the smallest way.

and fifth but most important find one thing to compliment about yourself everyday!!!!!! :thumbup:

Just remember that other people are in the same position that your in.

Trust me, i am clinically depressed and so i have extremally low self-confidence and esteem.

I actually keep a diary about what im going through, it helps to get all of your emotions out.

It also helps to talk to people about it, make sure its someone you trust though.

New clothes can make you feel better too :)

1)try wearing high heels as they make ppl feel very confident since they make legs look longer, and the butt look better or something. i am trying to wear them more often because everytime i did it felt great.

2)find something to laugh or smile about everyday because that will instantlhy make you feel happier

3) go on a crazy shopping spree, maybe at somewhere with a personal shopper, or else take your most stylish friend with you...not the one wearing the latest trends but the one who wears clothes that make her look show off her best points.

4) exercise for half an hour daily either at home or else join a group

5) make something that interests you a hobby like if you like music learn how to dance

6) do something fun everyday...even if its just jumping on the bed

7) avoid hanging out with negative people since they make a drop in the ocean feel like the whole ocean

8) remember that you are not alone in the situation.

Hey there Teenzzz14. It was sad for me to read you post because looking at your photo you look like such a beutiful young women. When I was 15 I had nothing going for me, no looks, no confidence and I was too shy around new people that I found it hard to make new friends. It wasnt until I went to college when things changed for me, but in your case I think things are already beginning to change. If people are complimenting you learn to accept them and before you know it you will beleive them. This in turn will help you, self-confidence is all you need. smile and keep shining xxxx

yep! i've felt that way before...and i think at times i still do..BUT, trust me, you're not the way you're imagining're beautiful and smart, cuz if you're not then why are you here asking for advices? when you could just give up and going through BIG depression :)

mm..some advices? try wasting your time into things that make you feel better with yourself and complete...hobbies..dont know...that way youll get confidence and that confidence will improve A LOT your self esteem...
