Well I'm not into sports myself, but a good breafest will do. Drink plenty of water too. If you planning on running or sprinting you may want to stretch out your muscles so that they wont cramp up later on or ache.(Would know from experience lol) But anyways to calm those nerves of yours, take several deep breathes. If that doesn't work, distract your self from thinking about it.

Eat a normal breakfast one to three hours before the race begins, and drink plenty of fluids - several glasses up to two hours before the race, then again 5 to 15 minutes before it starts. Eat foods that are familiar to you - it's no time to try something foreign or new.
