Can I dye my natural strawberry blonde hair golden blonde without bleaching it first?

I have long and very thick wavy strawberry blonde hair that has never been dyed. I have heard that any red hair has to be bleached before it can be dyed blonde. My hair is mostly blonde, but I do have quite a few copper strands that are very course. Also, is this something I could do at home, or should I just spend the big bucks and go to the salon?

Hmmmmm, It's not an ez answer becaause it depends a lot on how strwaberry it is and how light colored blond you want to get. My view is that, if you can avois bleach, please do. It can make your hair dry and lifeless and a little brassy. I used to get perms a lot when I was amodeling, and the chemicals are not nice to ur hair. I'm guessing, you might be able to get away without it. But my best advice is to spend the "big bucks" and have it done in a salon. The stylist will know whether or not he or she has to bleach it first and be able to work with you to get the color u like. Good luck, darling.
