Do you think it\'s unfair that models have to be really tall and thin?

I do! I thought beauty came in all shapes and sizes, not just 5'10 and 88 lbs. I foud it offensive when AMNTM did a season where they allowed 'shorter models' except they all were at LEAST 5'7, and I mean it's great to be that tall and that thin but it's like that's the only way you can be considered 'beautiful' these days.

The reason why models are usually that size is bc of the designers when they are launching a new seasonal line. The samples that are produced have to be a certain size because it is cheaper for them to make and also easier for them to produce a single size. Also when they have their runway show ... the outfits that they are showing technically look more appealing to the potential buyers in the smaller sizes. Sample sizes are usually only a certain size like 2-6. I know it is hard to understand but you also have to see it from the designers and marketing perspective.

But I do find it sad that girls view this as the only way to look pretty.

I always see models in the movie drools when they see foods. I would rather stay fat (I'm not though) than doing that. And yes it is unfair. If you don't have pink lips, white complexion, perfect figure and height, then you yourself will start thinking about changing yourself complete. And if you failed, you'll start hiding yourself from everyone. I hate media for that.

yes its unfair but some modeling agencys are taking on normal people now of all shapes sizes and skin tone bc lots of people think the same as you and that its unfair or even un real to be a size 2 or somthing redicoulous as that

From Christines Boyfriend: Yes it's fair. Models as a default are beautiful, if models were ordinary then they wouldn't be models but just average people.

of course it is, cuz thats what people end up measuring people by. the whle modeling idea is unfair actually. try telling a parent who watched their child starve and waste too much of their life that its fair. thats what my parents got to do.

Yes, it's very, very, VERY unfair. I went through a time when I wanted to be a model, and so I started starving myself to death. I'm only 12! (Though this happened when I was like, 9) So never, EVER starve yourself just to look or be a model!

I don't think that models are meant to be seen as extremely beautiful... they're main purpose is to sell the product they're presenting, and they have to present it well. That's why models have to be so think and tall, so that they won't overpower the clothes. And there are types of modeling where you don't have to be 5"10 and 90 lbs.

that there is a default for others to follow is unfair. a person isnt clay model-they cant change who they are into what they are supposed to be-if they do there are scary repercussions

so its more important that designers with their larges salaries save money than teh undeniable effect it has on others-particularly younger girls
