I razored my hair today and it all looks good, all except the top of my hair. The top layers are too short, and there's too much volume. It's not REAL noticable, but you can tell the top has too much volume, and it makes the rest of my hair look more thin. Now how can I fix this? I want to grow my hair long, so would growing it out fix it and weigh the "poofiness" down? Would it blend in right? Helllllp!

well razoring will not help this that is a great way to give layers and thin out hair. long layers are better only cutting the last few inches of hair : P
you can use some hairspray. some frizz ease syrum, or even some clear mascara to help weigh it down and try and look not so puffy
i think you should grow it out. but if you're not sure about it, you can ask a professional. don't need to do it at the saloon, just get a professional advice.
or make an edgy choppy look. there are so many new cool ahirstyles to choose from! have a look at these ones:
or these ones:
hope it helped! good luck! ;)
All you have to do is grow it out, when you go to the hairdressers only get the bottom length cut. and the tinyest bit at the bottom of your layers litrally just and split ands you may have.
Layers are designed to give you more volume in your hair the razor will do this more as it will be at different lengths.
For now there are tricks to hide layers like:
1. blowdry your hair with the nozzel directing down your hair at the root this will take any volume away.
2. Next straighten your hair starting at the root pulling down as close to your head as possible..
3. Put on shine serum as this will way the hair down and blend in the layers.
4. Next spray with hairspray.

lol i would never cut more to make it look more even you'll just make it shorter and lighter so the hair will all want to be puffier. that's what happened with my bangs lol
just add a little product to the top and try to blow dry it downward to keep it less puffy and wait it out..
you can even wear some cute hair bands or bandanas : P
hair serum-be careful though because around the roots it can look greasy with too much. blow dry your hair down instead of flipping it over for the reverse effect of volume. flat iron is suggested for too short of bangs and I can bet you it would help the poufiness
Do you think it will look right if I grow it out? Or do I need to chop off all my hair to make it blend with the top layers more? :(
those are cute styles, but I really would hate to cut my hair because EVERY time I try to grow it out I cut it, and I have to get out of that habit! I'm just hoping in a few months when my layers grow out more, the layers will lay better :)
Well, the rest of my hair is nicely thinned because of the razor.(I have suppppppppppper thick hair) its just I cut the top too short, I cut it myself, because the hair stylists always leave it too puffy with not enough layers, that or they cut it uneven. How often do you think I should go in for trims then? I want to do as little as possible, because I want long hair but I want to keep LONG layers in, not these short ones lol. I think I'll be wearing my hair half up, or in a pony for a while :)
They cut it uneven on purpose lol its called texturizing its used to thin hair out because it alot safer and better for your hair then using a razor. Next time you go to the hairdresser ask them to use the razor if thats what you like that way you can tell them exactly where you want it. you are ment to go for a haircut every 6 weeks to keep it in the best condition and this is best if you always use heat on it. take like 1 inch from the bottom but nothing from the top the first time then after just your split ends and half an inch from the bottom just so the top will look nice with the bottom.
Well..this is kind of embarrassing haha but I chopped my hair..like its choppy layers I guess you could call it, would they know how to trim it? Since I obviously didn't trim it like a professional would LOL I don't want to walk in there looking like a tard ya know
haha yeah I guess you're right. I'm mad because I was growing it long and I decided to razor it myself haha..that's why I got the choppy short layer on top. I just hope the layer grows well into my other hair, so it will eventually be long and pretty :) thanks for the tips!
