Well, first of all--your hair needs to be in it's natural state. Messy buns work best for those with hair that as at least a slight wave. To get the top one start by, pulling your bangs back, but leaving them a little loose so you get a slight poof. Hairspray this so you know that your bangs will stay in it.

Next, gather your hair up into a ponytail, then using your hand push the hair into a bun. What I usually do is like, take my fingers in like a "beak" and push the hair in the center, and push the hair around into a bun.

Another way--but only works if your hair is a certain length is to put it in a ponytail, and create like a loop, with the ends sticking out. The gently pull the ends to where they encompass the ponytail, and stick out most of the way around.

The thing with these: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. It'll take a while to do at first, but you'll get a routine.

i'm gonna say my hair is super thick and slick (healty) it sometimes a wave to it if i don't brush it while it's still wet

but no matter what my hair WILL NOT STAY IN A BUN it always does this strang twirled bob-tail lookng thing.

i can do a messy twist with a cute hair clip. i just twist the hair at the base of my neck and flip it up then put a cute clip in so the ends fall over the top
