"Flat Ice" Extensions and highlights for a nappy haired Latina? Will it work?

I'm a latina/mulatto girl who recently had to have my hair cut to eliminate split ends. I have since gotten a japanese perm, and though my hair still fluffs up before the touchups its otherwise much nicer and with little heat needed, split ends are a thing of the past. But I'm tired of having a short, boring, nappy haircut!

Is it possible to pull off a long scene haircut with mulatto roots? What highlight colors would look good with medium tan skin/black hair?

Also, does anyone know about flat ice extensions? I know its a chemical keratin process that doesn't involve glue but there's very little information about it online since it's so new. Between this, the perm touch up coming soon and the highights it will be a lot for my hair to handle so I want to make sure it will be done right without ending up bald! Id love a scene haircut like Brokelle bones - is that possible for women of color?

i think highlights would look cute on you i like gold or red on dark hair

and i would just suggest getting some of those easy clip in extensions to use when you're feeling a change and that way you can just use them when you're up to it and rock both hair styles
