Birth control pill?

So i went to my doctor about my crazy, crazy, crazy period, and he said that the pill will work? but my dad doesn't want me on the pill, cause he says they cause a hormonal imbalance and does not want me on it. so do they help with periods? and can they cause a hormonal imbalance?

Yes they can help with periods and yes, they may cause hormonal imbalances. Side effects vary from person to person, pill to pill, but it seems like usually it's either weight gain, increased breast size, mood swings , weight loss , depression, nausea, more acne or less acne. So on and so forth. Basically it can either work for or against you. It is a hormone, but you don't know how your body will react to each one. If you want more personal input about how different ones have affected others check out this forum thread
on contraceptive side effects.

So pretty much both your doctor and your dad are right. It's a matter of figuring if you want to take chances with your body and use such a thing. You may get good side effects or you may get bad ones. The best thing to do is research as much as you can about them.
Pros AND Cons. Side Effects, and person experiences NOT from their site but an external site where people leave unbiased reviews.

Yes it will help your period yet you will have hormonal imbalance due to the fact that the pill treats your body as if it's pregnant. Some people gain weight & some lose weight. I had the same problem when I first got mine and I did the pill I ended up gaining weight but my period went from twice a month to once and instead of a week ; I only get it for 2-3 days =) it has its pros and cons though! Also everyone is different.

they can do both. birth control is really bad for you because people who make it don't give a crap about woman. its artificial hormones because if they gave us real ones they wouldn't be able to make money off of it. Also, it depends on the pill you have. The one I am on right now (I just started 3 months ago) I haven't had my period yet. They should regulate your period. But I suggest doing a lot of research for the best one. Don't buy the ones you see on Tv because they will most likely kill you. i've read about girls having heart attacks at 19 :( so I say do a bunch of research. thats what I did with mine.
