I have a horrible habit of chewing my there any good stategy to break my habit?

My nails are really horrible looking because I have a bad habit of chewing/picking my nails. Every time they start to grow, I have an urge to pick them off and can't be bothered to resist that urge because I think to myself: "well my nails are horrible anyway so I may as well" is there any good strategy I could try to help stop my habit? I'm pretty stubborn... =]

i have a friend she's 38

her nails were eaten down so far there was like 1/4th of her nail on her finger

it was pretty gross

she got acrilic nails put on at the salon and kept them on for 2 weeks

it takes 2 weeks to break a habbit

now she has big long nails (natural) after the couple weeks she took of the fake ones and didn't have a need to eat them anymore

and just cause you think your nails look bad doesn't mean they will after you give them a week to grow out. try to keep that in mind. and keep a nail file handy it's best to keep nails in a rounded square shape it;s more sturdy and cute

and sometimes keeping them painted can help

You can always put fake nails on to break the habit, but the cheaper way is: go to a shop or a beauty salon and ask for a special kind of nailpolish ( it has no colour) that has a gross taste if you put your nails in your mouth. Mines called manicare - stop that. Try it, it helpped me! :)

I used to chew my nails all the time and when i decided to stop, i put a rubber band on my wrist. everytime i started to chew my nails, id snap the rubber band. i also had friends look out for me and they would snap the rubber band every time i was chewing my nails and didn't realize it :P and then I got fake nails and my nails grew underneath and i realized i really like long nails :P

I used to be a HORRIFIC nail biter! It was so gross and i bit my cuticles too. When I first started and tried to quit, I kept a rubber band on my wrist and every time i started to bite or thought about biting i'd snap myself. It creates a negative reaction to biting nails and i stopped for about a month. THEN i started again and for nearly a year i bit my nails halfway down and would not let them grow. So I purchased this cream on Amazon (they have an official website but its much cheaper on amazon) Its called "control it! omega 3". (the omega 3 version supplements your nails and tastes alot worse than the regular stuff but is 2-5 dollars pricier. Basically you rub it into your nails several times a day (in the morning and after washing your hands) It makes your nails taste DISGUSTING! After 1 month if your consistant about it you will never bite your nails again. Also, when your getting used to it make sure not to eat finger food as it will taste very very bad haha. But good luck! It is possible to stop biting.

what i do to stop myself from chewing my nails is i paint them a super cute color. now every time i go to chew on them, i see how cute they look and decide not to ruin them :) i hope this helps!

More plus sides, it doesn't change the look of your nail (no colors or whatever) and although the containers look TINY they last you at least a month and they lasted 2 for me. :)
