if you know how to use it then you can get choppier layers, otherwise you may get them to close or too fine. i say practice first on some sample hair of some kind before taking it to your own....just be sure to do it in chunks, it takes practice of technique-not really following a set of rules so be careful. using a razor is one of the most difficult parts of shaping hair

i rather take sections and cut upward into the ends . i have choppy long layers that i do myself : P

i was gonna do that but i learned if you have thick hair it will just make it frizz when it grows out but you can get the same choppy/shaggy look with scissors
