Is it worth to buy expensive make up or not?

I really love Make up and applaying to myself and my friends but the thing is we all asked the same question! We did not know if it is worth it to buy expensive make up items. Is it or is it not?

Please help!

first off, it depends what you define as "expensive".
And I can honestly say I've purchased highly expensive items before and rather cheap items. And I have to admit that the cheap ones worked far better than the highly expensive ones. The foundation was long lasting and had great coverage. The powder blended in and didn't "cake up" on my face. My eyeliner actually stays on ALL day opposed to the kind that smudges and smears throughout the day. And my mascara looked splandiferous; never flaky.
These are usually the kinds of make-up I use below:
Coverup: MaxFactor Silk Perfection ($8.99-$9.99)
Foundation: Revlon ColorStay ($10.00-$12.00)
Pressed Powder: Revlon Colorstay ($10.00)
Eyeliner: Rimmel London Exaggerate: Waterproof Eye Definer ($5.00) OR L'OREAL Paris Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner ($10.00)
Mascara: L'OREAL Telescopic Explosion Mascara ($7.00)
Blush: Covergirl Cheekers Blush ($4.00)

Hope I helped some.

well that depends on what suits your skin type and what looks good on you... i mean if you like it and want it then go for it.

I don't think it does, the most expensive thing in my arsenal of makeup is my eyeliner ($8).
Just because something is $80 and Kat Von D wears it does not mean it will be any better than even generic brands. Don't be afraid to try some cheap makeup, most of it does it's job. Also, look in magazines for great deals and some tips with the makeup you already have. Good luck and stay beautiful.

I would say, go for at least the most reasonably-priced items. If something is ridiculously cheap, chances are, quality is not as its best or some additives are in there to make them look rather appealing. Once I bought this eyeshadow palette for like $3.50, I think, and while it appeared to be okay with the pretty colors and all, it didn't go on smoothly, flaked and the pigments were barely visible. See, you pay peanuts you get monkeys. lol.

The best inexpensive brands on my book are Maybelline and L'oreal. With higher-end makeup brands, you're usually just paying extra for the fancy packaging.

For me, I'd say it all depends on certain things. Like.....
How often do you where makeup?
If you where it on an everyday basis I would get someting a little bit more on the higher side, but if you only where it occasionally stick to drug store brands.
What's your income?
It your making alot of money then you could probably get away with buying higher quality makeup, but if your income is low I would stick with the cheaper stuff.

But you'll never know what you'll find. My friend got me this eyeshadow case (it had four colors in it) from the dollar store and at first I didn't think it'd be good, because I've tried that brand before and I didn't like it. So...I finally tried it for the first time (probably just a few days ago) and I really like it. The colors were very pigminted, it went on smoothly, they blended in well with each other, etc. So...I guess you just got to get something on a whim.

Good question and good answers too :) I think the awesome thing is that there are good options for both expensive and inexpensive makeup - so that everybody can have fun with don't have to be rich to enjoy using makup and trying different things. And...if you can afford it... you have many more options in which to try!

Well, expensive products isn't ALWAYS the best. My advice is too reseach on the web. There is alot of websides on the net that discuss different make-up and quility of it. So try learning from other peoples experience.
Another think you need to remember is that most make-up doesn't last that long. Like, you are supposed to throw out you mascara after 3-6 months, after that it looses it's efficacy. So, if you use LOTS of money on buying really exspensive make-up, and then don't get too use half of it, it's really gonna suck. :(

The only thing you should really splurge on is primer, foundation, and concealer. Go with something light and all natural on anything that you would wear all over your face--try mineral make up. Also, you're more likely to get a better match to your skin. Primer is excellent for giving your eye make up some insurance if you're going to be out in inclement weather or if you might cry. A good primer is Beige-ing by MAC. It looks nice on it's own or under shadow.
