Hi, I'm new here. I'm homeschooled and I'm an extremely shy person.

I don't really have any friends except a two but they live 2 hours away and an online friend. I was thinking about getting a summer job to boost my confidence. But I don't wanna working at a place where I feel like there is an audience watching everything I do. So I was thinking of something low-key like working at a small bookstore or thrift shop. Got any other ideas?

I think that would be a great idea. This will help you boost your self confidence and you can work on your people skills. Plus you will also make more friends near your area! Low key place...if you like video games I would suggest Game Stop, it is a small store and very low key, you won't have to dress up. Half Price Books, PetCo, Public Library, if you are gutsy enough ..maybe Starbucks...bc it will force you to talk to customers but you will be hands on busy most of the time that you will not notice the time flying by.. and plus you will probably meet more people that are around your age. This way you will not hesitate to approach people.

truthfully it would be good for you to jump into something like walmart they usually do leave you to your work but you are expected to engage the customer and that would be great for you. it's mandatory if someone is within 10 feet that you ask them if they need any help.

i think that would be great. i loved my walmart job i felt in control and after a while you learn the whole store and you feel confident about being able to help anyone with any questions. i loved working in the pet area i got to dip out the fish ^_^

I was thinking since I really love dogs, I could do dog sitting and dog walking. Then next year maybe I could move up to working at a pet store.
