Society and Weight

Just to get it off my chest. Not to offend anyone by any means!

Why is it such young girls feel the need to lose weight at such young ages? Has society put that much pressure on them in believing that we aren't beautiful? Girls need to grow up and respect who they are and they body they've been given. We may not be 'supermodels' persay, but we are our own beautiful selves. The pressure that is put on girls growing up is ridiculous, and downright unbelievable. Being brainwashed into thinking that who we are is not good enough for the ouside world, and creating self complications to become a 'prettier person'.

YOU are pretty. You are gorgeous. You are who you are.

You are unique in your own way, beautiful on the inside and out.

I totally agree with you! I think mostly because people dont accept them as they are.

I go to a school where everyone is sooo judgemental and there was a girl who came a few months ago...a little over weight and people were making fun of her. Im her friend and she told me she didnt even eat because she felt so bad.

I think its just the pressure some kids put on others to make them fit in..even if it means hurting themselves. I hate how kids do that, and even kids at my school do it to me and im skinny :/

Im happy someone else looks at it like this, if someone doesent like you...then tell them to kiss your bum lol be yourself, never change for anyone =)

I remember when i was young and in middle school all I worried about were clothes and my friends. I never worried about gaining weight till college. Even then I never really thought I was fat. It is so wierd how girls now...middle school or younger are wanting to diet and 'get skinny'. My friend told me that her niece would not eat something untill she ran on the treadmill...and she is 8! I was sooo shocked. I mean I do believe we should eat well and be as healthy as we can but it is sooo over done now...everyone wants to be a size 2..and tall..perfect skin...thick hair.. but in reality even that model is not exactly what you think she looks like with all the airbrushing and photo shopping...... society's idea of perfect is a bit unrealistic.

another good point to bring up is how young girls thing having a boyfriend is a goal instead of realizing they are just as important with out one and it doens't mean you're slow or behind if you don't have a boyfriend.

it sucks the lenghts young girls (and older girls) will go through to keep a guy who isn't even wourth anyone's time

thank you for speaking out about this. i wish people would actually take this to heart. I wish I had listened to this when i was sick five years ago in a facility with an eating disorder. we need to fight bad body image stigma even when it feels hopeless, when we feel fat ourselves (but fat is nit a feeling), when we are judged according to our physical assets, and when we feel pressured to inhibit our own needs and desires

And with all the breast implants now.... i feel like my boobs are soo small. ( well they kinda are) but seeing barbie-type women makes me want boobs.

Those are definitely huge words of encouragement. Good for you for becoming the strong, willful person you are today!
