no one answered the question so i suppose i will . I'm not sure what methods you're going to take to permanently smooth your hair , but you should at least be aware of the types of methods and the effects, then choose the one that's right for you.

There's the japanese straightening

The Brazillian blowout

and others i can't be arsed to type out

but essentially, hair follicle molecules are bound in a certain structure. when you smooth them out the bonds have to restructure themselves and rearrange themselves in a smoother layout. That's why it's prone to damage and gets dry easier (although it may not seem it because the hair is smooth) upon smoothing it. So you have to treat it consistently o.o with care. I'd suggest to anyone to just have a brazillian blowout if you want smoother hair, it's mainly done with keratin, a protein in hair that makes it stronger and shouldn't' strip it of moisture, but since you have dry hair, i'd suggest you not do chemically alter it in any way o.o. Olive oil, should help it become softer and more manageable and invest in moisturizing shampoo and conditioners o.o sometimes smoothing isn't the best option especially if your hair is rough and dry, it'll only cause more trouble by just making it weak , dry and brittle ._.
