I want to dye my hair red, but I am told I have pink undertones. What should I do?

I dye my hair at home using store bought stuff. My natural color is a medium dark brown.

well first use a temporary dye to see if you'll like the effect it gives you.
These are less damaging and after a few washes are off.
Then if you do like the effect go on and dye it non temporarily. Usually at home dye jobs don't turn out so well unless you know what you're doing...so be sure you do...did you bleach your hair? If not, at most the dye will highlight your hair or not even stay on....

i tried many times to dye my hair red and it would just turn a dirty orange color after a few days every time. i also have medium brown hair and i dyed my hair purple, and it faded to red, the same red i wanted the whole time. The lady at the beauty school used a mixture of red violet and violet red on me. It turned out very purple, but after about 3 days it was a nice dark red.

I dyed my hair last week, just by myself at home and I love the results. It's a non-temporaly hair dye. I thought 'just give it a shot' and everybody (includiing me) likes my hair.
