Why might my sense of hearing be so strong?

I've always had strong hearing. If I'm in my bedroom with my music blaring, I can usually still hear my parents talking quietly at the other end of the house. If I don't have my music going I can hear them whisper. Today I was in my room and some people walked by. I could hear them talking. A car drove by and I could hear the music and I heard a guy say "almost there". I'm 50-60 feet away from the road. Why might this be? I know this isn't beauty but I feel like a freak.

I think it is because your young. My hearing was better when I was younger. I still can hear my parents talking when they are downstairs in their bedroom talking and I am upstairs across the house. Sometime you can hear people because the a/c and heating vents connect to each room. As for outside I can hear people when they are outside my parent's house too. But my hearing has gotten worse because I put subwoofers in my car. So do not worry you are not freak. .. you have great hearing!

im exactly the same. it's really strange. I can hear people whispering from outside my classroom at school. I think we might have a gift ;) It may be a genetic thing, my parents have strong hearing so I must have got mine of them. :)

aww there's no need to feel like a freak.

i've actually heard that if you have like super duper amazing skills in one sense another sense might not be as strong. Like your eyesight could be off or maybe you can't feel or taste things as well. I think it makes you unique and who knows when you could use it for the future :D

it could be genetic, but it's probably like.. have you ever heard of stories of blind people having like super hearing, or vice versa? maybe one of your other senses aren't as strong as they should be, and so your hearing is picking up for it. that sounds awesome. me, you could yell my name right next to my ear and i probably wouldn't hear you. hahaha :)

i agree with what eveyone else is saying.

although i can relate to you, my brothers and sisters sleep in different rooms and i can hear them breathing, it gets really annoying, especially as no-one else in my family seems to hear these things, it keeps me awake at night a-lot.

plus, listening to music with headphones doesn't help me either.

other than that, i'd listen to the others, you're probably slightly lacking in another sense.

hope this helps (:
