most avril songs, simple plan songs, greenday songs are guitar based and can be played on guitar. chose a song which is guitar based and not piano based because it is easier to find.

The whole 70s rock scene is just amazing. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, they have a lot of great melodies like Ten Years Gone, Stairway to Heaven, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, etc... Moody Blues is pretty easy if you're not looking for much of a challenge (well, they were more 60s), Rolling Stones has just some classic stuff (same)... depends on if you're acoustic or electric, really.
