Should an 11 year old try to lose weight??

My cousin is now a cheerleader for 6th grade year and wants me to ask what kind of diet to go on.She is 95 pounds.OMG!!! She thinks its such i big deal considering she is skinny and thinks her belly sticks out to much.(1 inch maybe :P)

i don't think so....dieting could stunt her growth; if she's only in grade 6, she's still growing. you can tell her that she can watch what she eats (to not eat much junk food) but she shouldn't exercise to lose weight (but to stay healthy) and definitely no crazy diets!

I would tell her that she's really thin and that what she really needs to do is stay in shape. Tell her "dieting" is a bad idea but cutting all junk food and processed foods out of her life is a healthy idea (as long as she's eating meat, grains and lots of fruits and vegetables). And tell her that running 10 miles a day is a bad idea but running 2 or 3 miles a day is a healthy idea. And if she's dead set on losing belly weight teach her to do maybe 30 crunches before she goes to bed.

really at that age you're still a baby and you should have some healty babyfat. that's y it's called baby fat.

as she does the cheerleading thing more it'll tone that up you can't diet that away baby fat has to be toned away. put that thought in her head. she can make healty choices when she eats cause muscle needs the proper nutrients but exercising is the only way to tone that lil bit of baby fat away
