I'd say take down notes by hand and do them in bullet points.,like an outline of the lecture so you can catch up with the prof. it 'll also be easier when you review them. a laptop can be helpful at times, but like Maeve said, can bring in unnecessary distractions.

and oh, college means independence--including how you handle your studies. It's totally different from highschool, where teachers observe their students and commend them for their strengths and try to help them out with their weaknesses. this time, you'll have to work for credit. not meaning to scare you, hun. just giving you a heads up. Good luck!

usually they talk slow enough you can get the gist down of notes you don't have to write word for word

if your a fast typer you could get a laptop they do help with searching up things too. but you'll need a printer for some stuff

just expect to feel like freshmen year in highschool all over again. it'll be strange at first and a lil confusing but you'll get it down and it'll be easy

well it all depends on the type of course and type of profs you have....like for me, all my teachers post their notes, so i don't have to write many notes...but i do take a few notes in class because it helps me remember more.....as for a laptop, it does help, but i don't care for using it for notes....and then when i see ppl with laptops, i get annoyed because they are doing stuff that's wayyy off from the course (but now i sit in the front to avoid these distractions. i would get a laptop for doing homework and stuff, but you need to find a style that suits yourself.

as for supllies and stuff, it all depends what you're taking....oh, and DO NOT buy books before classes start...profs post books you need, but you may not actually need them...i bought this one book...brand new (like 80-100 dollars), and i didn't even open it once.....if you can buy your textbook used, def. do that....usually there are books that don't have any markings that sell for like 10-30 dollars
