ok so im really not comfortable with my body. I do know im overweight

my goal is to try to lose about 20 pounds. can you guys help me reach my goal.

im only 13 so i cant do much on diets that contain certains foods. can you tell me the right way i should be eating, and what i should be drinking. like for milk and water a day. and also tips on exercise will be nice.. thanks

i'm sorry to hear that

when i was in school before i got into high school i topped out at 183lbs but i always thought i was cute and i was always comfy in myself

i now weight 155lbs and i'm 5'6" (i was about 5'5" when i was 183)

just rember everyone has a healty weight for their body structure and mine is really right around that 155 and i'm very happy with that

i lost about 20lbs after i had my daughter and it was by drinking lots of water with that powder drink mix and noodles bowls (and i work out every day basicly chasing her and grooming dogs)

staying a bit active (even walking for 30mins a day) will help burn alot

I don't think it's a good idea for you to get into dieting, since you're only 13. Dieting now could destroy your metabolism. Plus your body is going through a lot of changes right now.

So I think you should just:

1. Drink at least 8 cups of water a day.

2. Take a multivitamin specifically for teenage girls.

3. Make smart choices. Don't eat fast food. Don't stock up on potato chips. Eat as much fruit and vegetables as you can a day. AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT CALORIES! You're way too young. Just make sure you're eating like at least 3 pieces/servings of fruit a day, and at least 4 servings of vegetables a day.

4. Exercise. This part is key. It will only help your metabolism. Take up jogging, or even better, running. Swim. Skip rope. Maybe invest in an exercise dvd or two. (You can find them for like 8$ each). I really like yoga and pilates dvds, personally.

5. Don't worry about it so much, and don't get frustrated if you don't see results right away. All of these things will be healthy changes for your body, regardless of what a scale says.

i know how you feel. im 14 (just turned a couple weeks ago), and im 4'11 and weighed around 115 at the beginning of the summer. i ended up losing 7 pounds, and getting back to the weight i wanted (107) at the end of it. all i really did was exercise. like i went jogging twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the evening, it helped me get in shape, which is alot more important then being skinny. and something else i did was cut out unnecessary sugars, and caffine. my dentist told me (and my mom enforced) to not eat or drink sugars. (i know!! hard!!) so i ended up cutting out all dark sodas ( coke, Pepsi, cheerwine, etc.) and some candy's, and the weight came off. focus more on getting in shape, then losing weight. that way, i promise you, you'll fel alot better about yourself, b.c i know i do. like my sister, shes taller and ALOT skinnier than me. but she tried to run a mile with me and couldn't even go half way. thats just plain unhealthy. so yeah. dont try to be skinny, try ti be healthy(:

from your picture you look perfect but heres some advice to get healthier. Try yoga, it tones you up and builds muscle and finds the perfect weight for you. Swap fizzy drinks and fruit juices for water and green teas to clean out your system. Swap french fries for baked potatoes or salads and instead of getting a ride somewhere try walking. also never skip breakfast, oatmeal or porridge will fill you up for hours and stop you snacking. but never deny yourself anything, if you crave a piece of chocolate then go and have some. you can still eat your favourite foods but in moderation and as long as you exercise its no problem . but remember, your only young so your body hasn't finished growing by a long shot so don't focus too much on your weight. Puberty will see it change a lot as you get taller etc so just focus on being healthy :)

I would look into Weight Watchers. On the Momentum program, you simply eat healthy foods and treats in controlled portion sizes (so you need to read labels, etc.)

Since I have a busier schedule with school, I'm focusing more on eating healthy foods. When I have barbeque chicken, I'll peel off the skin and spread a measured portion of bbq sauce on the chicken. For snacks, I'll have fresh fruit, veggies, and low-fat popcorn (whole grain) instead of chips and candy. By eating lean protein, fruit, vegetables, low-fat/fat-free dairy, and whole grains you can lose weight even if you cannot follow a strict plan of counting calories, etc.
