I never considered the thought that profanity "takes away from a person"??

I was talkign to this guy on facebook. & He asked me how my day was going. & I was like, "okayy I gues. I"m reallllllly fucking tired though."

& then he said, "girls that swear lose some of their beauty"

of course, I said I could care less about that.

But then it got me thinking, my boyfriend always talks about my "vulgar" mouth. & I don't swear all day every day. its actually rare that I do O.o

& I also know that whenever he mentions it, he's just kidding. He also uses it.

but would do you guys think? is it, "inappropriate" to be using, or would it "take away from my beauty" ???

I don't think that it takes away from a person's beauty necessarily.
It can, however, take away from a person's sophistication and it shows how they present themselves.
Of course, if you only swear very rarely then it isn't as much of a problem.
Even I, myself, will swear from time to time but it's only when I'm either very upset or angry. Which is still bad.
It's just a sophistication factor.
So don't sweat it. (:

It's true that compared to a lot of people you probably don't swear a lot. However, swearing does affect your reputation. If you cuss just like "everyone else," then that makes you just like "everyone else." A friend of mine named Bo once told me a story. In his high school, he was a pretty good guy - didn't cuss a lot, made good impressions, etc. One day, when he was frustrated, he just dropped the f-bomb, thinking that it was cool. His friend looked at him, shocked, and said "Bo, what are you doing?" Without knowing it, Bo had earned the respect of his friends by not using "vulgar language," and it was at that point that he realized it. If you don't swear, it not only makes you stand out, but it also earns you respect. This respect might be the "beauty" that your boyfriend was talking about.

unnecessary swearing or excessive swearing makes people seem unpolished. i think swearing should just be reserved for when you're upset. it just seems excessive and discomforting to use it in everday conversations.
