I believe when ever you deem appropriate. I will honor them when you see them and say Thank you, or even when I am watching TV and they are paying tribute to the military heros , I will send a prayer for all the other men and women. I don't believe there has to be a certain time... or a 'right time'. You can do it whenever it feels right.

I say whenever you feel that is seems right to say. Like when i go to the airport and pass by military veterens/heroes i just say a simple thank you and it means a lot to them..

I totally agree with CTL888

you should honer the idea of them every day and always respect the choices they've made

but if i had to pick a celebration i would choose 4th of july over 9-11 cause one was a great victory of our independence and it's what our guys fight for every day to keep strong the other was a horrific terrist event that we need to not forget but i would honor the memory of all the men and women who stood tall and pitched in to help the wounded

i dont know anything about that but i would say anytime is appropriate because they serve our country at all times-not just when its convenient. all i really know about veterans is that you tell them thank you for your service.

anytime like everyone has said. i do like the idea of going to the airport when they leave or come back. saw on top chef one time that they had a challenge to feed the military heroes that were leaving and coming, along with their families. or think about going to a fort and sitting there and getting their story. they have been through so much that many times all they need is someone to talk to. anytime and anywhere. the right time is now.

p.s. use the comments you have gotten in these answers. they could be great unconventional quotes or transitional phrases.
