Why am I so hungry?

I've been eating a high fiber (an estimated 57 grams of fiber yesterday), portioned controlled diet. I've been eating plenty of lean protein, but I still find myself hungry, even though I drink plenty of water and eat high-fiber meals and snacks.

Even after eating, my stomach will be growling. I have to fight myself to keep from eating everything in sight.

I thought this kind of diet should keep me from being so hungry.

How large are your portions? Are your eating about 4-6 onces of lean meat per meal? 3 oz. of veges and some sort of rice or carb.? You know you have to have some sort of carb everyday... it helps your brain function. When you are eating a high fiber diet it will cause your food to pass a little more your body may not be absorbing all it can. so it make leave you a bit hungry. if your tummy makes some noises after you eat it could be just digesting and some gas bubbles. Also try some snacks inbetween your meals. Like grapes or yogurt. do not make your body feel hungry all the time or your body can switch to survival mode and you will start gaining weight everytime your eat. even grabbing a hand full of plain almonds is a great snack.

i agree wiht ctl888. make sure your portions are a good size. and when you get hungry try eating something health. its good to eat when your hungry.. and if you feel like your eating a lot and tell hungry i would ask your local doctor..

also your body may be craving more nutrients. you need to make sure you're eating well balanced meals with fruits and veggies and startches

barbi is right, also, when you eat certain foods it wil make your metabolism rev up and work faster makeing you more hungry. That means you need more food. You dont have to go overborad, but you do need to make sure youre staisfied. Also eating more throughout teh day will do that because your metabolism is constantly working. Make sure youre getting enough protein taht should help!

yo! i agree with what the other girls said, but as mny own little tidbit... eating a handful of chocolate covered pretzels, or a small bowl of ice cream IS NOT BAD FOR YOU. just do it in moderation, and not every night, and it actually helps your body. when your body craves something, its saying, hey! i need this!
