New help choosing a guy scene hairstyle, I'm totally lost.

Giving a quick bio might help a bit...

I have never had a style (hair, clothes, etc) nor the confidence to express myself, easier to blend in then stand out. =(. But now I'm headed off to college and decided that now would be the perfect opportunity for a change.

For as long as I can remember I've had a medium length shaggy hairstyle, barely covering my eyebrows. I have naturally wavy, dirty blonde, and not very thick hair (but not thin either) with noticeably darker eye brows (is this weird?) more of a golden brown color

With my hair, which scene style would look good?

What kind of products will I need to maintain this style? and how much effort will it require?

How can I describe this to a hair stylist?

Any tips with hair in general? One problem I seem to have is sometimes my hair flips out, how can I stop this? I think it has something to do with how i dry it.

Thanks for the help, I feel silly posting here as a guy. If pics of myself would help I could send some also

yes some pics would be really nice dude..........hehe.....anyway, if i'm right, i kinda see your hair as sterling knight's hair. if that's the case, i think it looks great but i guess you really want that scene hairstyle.

i can tell you, i don't know much about it but the styling part every morning and touch ups during the day seems a bit hard and well, unnatural. but that's just me.

most girls like to keep things as natural as possible. including me.

i would suggest a clean hair cut that shows off some bangs, kinda sideways. it's scene-ish, all you need is gel or wax to keep it that way. my guy classmate has that hair and it looks awesome. hope i helped!!! goood luck!!!!^_^:D:thumbup:

Okay to describe this to a hairstylist, tell them you want short layers on top, you want it thinned, and you want it layered. If you want to go big and wild like some scene guys you will need a teasing comb and hairspray. To tease, take a section of hair and backcomb it (comb in the opposite direction in wich it grows) then hairspray it then tease it again. do this to all the areas that fit then when it looks absolutly horrible gently comb the top of it to smooth it down just a bit. or if you want it to stick straight up tease it ALOT then hairspray it all the way through then tease it again and use your hands to pancake the hair between your hands and pull it up. message me if you need more help.

undeadXprincess has a nice picture. =-D I would just go ahead and take in the picture because some hairstylists have no idea how to work on descriptions. I read in SHAPE like 3 months ago that hairstylists would rather have a picture so they know exactly what they want and you won't be mad about them messing up a description.... Save it to your computer and print it. =-D GOod luck

i mean.....answering the question

the one undead princess posted looks gorgeous,

and you could tint your hair a similar colour to your eyebrows.

PS: YAY @ you for deciding to change :)

Wow thanks for all the tips, I wasn't expecting so many answers so fast =D. I can't seem to find a recent picture of myself with my regular hair anywhere. It's been a while since I had my normal hair due to lossing a couple bets, had to shave it all off TWICE =(. I'll try finding one from last year later.

Actually, my hair does look similar to "sterling knight" but a bit more wild usually. My hair has a mind of its own, it usually never looks the same from day to day. What's a good way to straighten it? (Yes, I suck at this hair stuff) I've always hated growing my hair out too far below my ears cuz then it starts flipping and going crazy. How could I avoid this?

I don't think my hair is long enough to pull off undeadprincess's look. (Although I do like it a ton)

Geejade, I've basically had that look all my life and trust me I know a lot of girls like it =P, but it has never really felt like my style. + it seems to always attract the wrong type of girls. Ugh, I'd rather not go into detail.

Any other ideas?

kind of like a mix

keep your bangs and around your face long *it's easy to use a flat iron on these parts and keep the shaggy looking*

cut the back short and make it spiky, i would say leave about an inch onthe back,

it's a pretty common cut for a scene style but it's also easy to maintain

u can use a little clay (just sticky not gooey) feeling on your hands then rub it in your hair and spike up the back all the way to your crown and use it to help keep your front in place

Here are some ideas, on styling I have to admit I am not much help, but I suggest you find a hairstyle you like and take it to your stylist. They should be able to show you how to style it each day and reccomend products, just be sure to ask. :P
