Needs help with hair styling!

I recently got my hair cut (link at the end of question) and I am clueless when it comes to hair styling. My friend told me to buy some of the Murray's stuff, so I did and I tried to follow her directions on how to use it but it doesn't come out the way I want it to. If someone could please help me and tell me how to spike my hair in step-by-step directions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here's the link...

you can find gel ment for just spikeing it depending on your type of hair and what my brother does is he puts some on his hands and ruffles it through his hair then pulls the strands and adds a little too the roots and it works good

A really good tool for spiking your hair would probably be Hairstyling putty clay it doesn't really matter which one you get as long as it is some sort of putty. You can get is at sally beauty or even at wal mart. Start at the roots a pull up and so this in each section on the hair. Hope this helps.

i would use Clay

just put a dime sized dab on your hands and spread it all over your palms so it kinda feels sticky

then run it all through your hair ALOT you want your hair to kinda feel sticky but not gooey

then you can take a flat iron or a curling iron and seperate small sections and bend them if the ways you want or just use your hands and fluff it out

don't forget to clean your stuff when your done lol

use clay, and just do the spikes wherever you want them and wherever you think it would look good. :]
