My split ends are driving me INSANE!

Ok I got my hair cut just about 3 weeks ago and she cut off my split ends. But now I'm noticing practically EVERY hair at the very base of my head is jaggedly split! But none of my other hairs are! I'd hate to spend $25 at the salon again so soon. Should I just cut them off? Or would dry cutting them be a bad idea?

Hmmm... have you used any new shampoo or hair product lately? It might be the weather as well. I wouldn't cut them yourself unless you knew how to and you wouldn't mind messing up. Though, they might grow back worse then before, who knows. :)

if you trim the ends yourself makesure you use NEW sizzors sizzors that aren't sharp or have been used on other items will make more split ends

i dry cut my hair all the time i use my grooming sizzors when i'm at work and i cut upward into my hairs to keep it looking natural and not blunt straight across cuts look in my lists under hair there is a girl on youtube it's called 'how i cut my bangs' and i take that basic idea to do my ends

also you could try a hot oil treatment first (they sell a Vo5 one at walmart my mom loves) and start using a intensive care shampoo and conditioner they have a good one from dove

you cant actually fix split ends once youve got them. you can use treatments and heavier conditioners to help keep them from splitting more and save your ends on top. as for the already damaged can cut it again or just wait it out for the next cut. i would find out what is causing the premature split ends first then after you have a plan or know how to prevent them, then cut them off and start over this time hopefully with more luck. maybe you flat iron the bottom part of your hair more than teh top, or teh bottom is simply not as strong. anything can cause split ends so if yoru bottom layer is significantly longer than the top it could be getting whipped around during the day and just more vulnerable to wind, things it gets caught in, making them more knotted and then when you brush it can also cause more split ends. i would suggest extra conditioner-maybe a salon one it would be like an investment.

I use the VO5 weekly treatments and I really like it. I use it mainly on my ends. I also use the Dove intensive conditioner and i like it too. the dark blue bottle

Yeah all of those are true about my hair. lol The bottom is a lot longer and I flat iron every day and it seems the bottom layer gets tangled more. The shampoo and conditioner I use is coco mango by back to basics. The conditioner is really thick so I don't think that it would be doing bad to my hair..
