Are piercing guns dangerous with cartilage?

i want to get my cartilage pierced at claires but i have heard that piercing guns are dangerous. I got my earlobe pierced with a gun and that was fine but i dont want my cartalige to split. I am really scared of needles and would like it to be over in a few seconds. If i have it done with a needle how long does it take and how much does it hurt on a scale from 1-10? thanks xxx

Actually, needles hurt less, which is why they're used in REAL piercing places since the point gently seperates the skin/cartiledge rather than shoving a blunt object through it, but if you're really too scared, I did have mine done with a gun since it was a whimsical thing while at the mall and it did not split. I have actually never heard of that. Neither of them hurt really at first its like OMG OMG OMG it's gna happen and then it does and ur like "That's it?" but then AFTER if you touch it for the next few weeks, WOW!!! OUCHY! Enough to make you dizzy and pass out almost even! So OBVIOUSLY don't do it on the ear you sleep on, answer the phone on, etc. =D Mine actually only hurt for like two days. But I guess most people say closer to 2 weeks.

I was talking to one of my teachers about this because I wanna get mine pierced sometime soon and she told me that the needles are better because sometimes the guns aren't cleaned out well, so you're better off with the needle. Also she recommended that you don't get it right at the top and you get it a little below where the cartilage is thinner. :D Hope that helped. (:

hi i got my cartilage pierced with a gun and it was all good so i changed the earring after a week so i think guns will be quicker but its your choice, and it doesnt hurt it just stings for like 10-20 seconds after its bin pierced and if u get it done u cant sleep on the side where u got it done coz it hurts lol and always clean it and if its itching dont worry its coz its healing, by the way im 14 and i only got it done about 1-2 months ago  :)

honestly you shouldnt even be wasting your time thinking about it..

they're not dangerous.. think of all the thousands, if not millions, of people who have had their ears pierced with piercing 'guns'...

it honestly depends on your pain tolerance. it's enough to make you feel it, but considering your age, its really not a big deal at all
