I think it's well-intentioned, in some aspects. The idea of striving for good and striving to live *righteously* (for lack of a better word to use in this situation), is a splendid concept. I respect the people who choose to believe in Islam, as I respect everyone, but (and please don't take offense) I do not see it as truth. I have a dear friend who is a Sunni Muslim. She is a sweet and very well-learned girl. The culture in Arab countries is wonderful - they work hard and strive to learn and achieve, meanwhile, most North American's sit on their lazy butts. I look at this as something very superior to Western culture, that a lot of us Westerners need to learn.

In comparison to Messianic Judaism (which is what I believe in, full-heartedly), Islam has very little archeological evidence to back it up, if any, that truly justifies it as trustworthy. Also, there are some concepts that contradict themselves. Islam means 'peace' (that is a concept Muslim missionaries try to push - though it's a bit of a stretch.) Yet Muslims often turn to harsh methods of converting people. (Though other religions have been very guilty of this as well!)

Overall, I'm not a fan. It's a religion of fear. Argue all you want with me but many Muslims live the way they do out of fear of their God, not out of love. Though many Muslims grow up throughout their childhood learning and being indoctrinated, so in many cases it's just not worth arguing.

(:

Hi Fathima! I'm from the Philippines. Although we're a predominantly a Christian country, about 30% of the population is Islam. We have great respect for their beliefs and practices. But it's sad to know that despite that, discrimination still exists. I personally abhor any form of stereotyping and prejudice. Perhaps I might say I'm an advocate to humanity--disregarding race, ethnicity, religion, social status and even gender preferences.

Our world now faces a serious crisis of religious authority. Society's disdain toward Muslims is not a moral justification of the violence nor is it a step to resolve the crisis that is taking place in this age of schism.

well, i have no problem with people's religions. you can be whatever you want to be...as long as you don't push it onto other people. that's one thing i can't stand; is when religion A (not going to specify) pushes their religion onto others, tries to get them to convert and stuff....this is just an example. in hollywood, the jewish religion is taking over because the movie people and such are mainly jewish so actors/actresses are converting to be jewish so they have a better chance in making it into movies/tv shows. i think that's just taking too far. as for islam...go ahead, be islamic, just don't make me be one too

My opinion:

Islam is what it is. In my classes there were only a few students most of which were Islamic, all of which were friends of mines. To me, it doesn't matter what religion a person is, Islamic or not. I can see how to people Islam may be misconstrued and misunderstood, but that can go for many other religions as well. People view other religions as enemies or as the incorrect religion and fail to see similarities. Many people in the West are guilty of this, for example, many Christians and practicioners of Judaism fail to see that Islam, as well shares an origin based off Abrahamic tradition I believe, teaching that Jesus was a prophet of allah correct? Removing myself from any religious institution, it's clear to see that everything is thus connected in a way. Even though most people are blind to see beyond what they hear or what biases tell them , and do not seek the facts out themselves. In fact, there are many things that the islamic faith says that many other religions also touch on. So to say, the dissent between Western christians and practioners of Islam is the fault of a bit of ignorance and a superiority complex all caused by us, and misunderstandings. That being said, I'm indifferent to mainly all religions. I don't dislike them, but I don't feel any need to join one, simply because, I can follow the rules of life and live just as happily day by day.

I'm Christian... But I'm ok with other religions except if they're satanic or something like that.... The reason why I like Islam is because you don't have any of those ''anti Islamic groups''' like Christianity has... That's what I find very gross..... I think white people did most horrible things and we should be ashamed... But that's nothing to religions... I hate those religion wars.....

I think Islam is nothing alike Christianity... You don't pray that much.... I think that's a ''caring'' religion...

We can't help ourselves not to believe in our religions but we should at least accept other ones....

I learned a lot about Islam in my school because I have a lot Muslim friends....

But although I have learned a lot of things about Islam, non of them convinced me to convert to it...

So I respect it but don't adore it.... I think it's ok.....

Yes this is a random question. But when a person is saying not to tell her to convert, you jump on her asking does she believes in God. Now that's not random. That will just make things worst. If she's following a religion, that means she believes in God. Keep that in mind. You want people to know more about your religion, invite them to talk about it and ask questions.

I'm a Muslim. I myself don't know a lot of things about my religion but I'm currently reading the Holy Quran. Trying to know more.

I respect muslims as I do with all people, and upset with how people categorize them all as terrorists and all like they are bad people just cuz some of them did that. I mean, if someone who claimed christianity as their faith did an act of terrorism, not all christians would be pinned as terrorists. However, for most people, it seems too much like a religion of rules rather than a relationship. I am not a Muslim, but I wish everyone would be more willing to learn and understandd more about the religion, not that they should convert, just so that it clears up all the misplaced blame and fear of a mostly peaceful religion.

First of all, I'm a Muslim.

I'll say, before saying "it's not true", you should know the religion first. If you're not interested to read the Holy Quran, then you should never say anything by seeing the people. One example can be given by your words, forcing people to convert. It's clearly written in the Quran not to force people to convert. Just to invite them to know.

It's not a religion of fear. I repeat don't say something without knowing what you're talking about.

When writing Allah, you shouldn't use the small alphabet :)

Not like I'm newly converted, I know a lot but to have clear concept about my own religion I'm studying, which most of the people don't do. And that's why people misunderstand about this religion judging by the so-called Muslim.
