Grunge and goth styles were popular among young people. There were lots of plaid long-sleeved shirts worn over t-shirts or undershirts, and tons of denim. Jeans, and jean jackets. The hip-hop trend wasn't emerging yet, so the fashions were either conservative or grunge, basically. lol
The goth stuff was actually available in stores! There were black chunky wedge shoes and some faux corset tops. A lot of the stuff looked like Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham in the Spice Girls) fashion.
Silver jewellery was really popular, especially tons of intricate silver hoop earrings that could be worn by guys or girls.
That's about it, I think. I hope this helps!

LianneLovesMakeup's answer is really good. I was only 1 year old, but I think lots of girls wore doc martens with short skirts with sometimes ragged hemlines or like flowery or lacy dresses for contrast. Here's a couple links that might help:

I hope you get another era next time. I looove fashions from the 1960s and early 1970s :D
