are tanning beds unhealthy?

I want to get my sister a gift certificate for a tanning salon for her birthday, but i have heard that tanning beds are really not very healthy. Is that true? Do you think this would be a good gift?

Of course tanning beds are unhealthy. Its a very nice gift if thats something she likes to do and is okay exposing her body too, but if all she wants is to be tan, get her a gift certificate for a spray tan. They're enjoyabale and if you find a nice place it will look really natural.

yes they're very unhealthy! My mom has one and I hate it! The color you get is so, not natural and really fake-ish... spray tanning or a tanning lotion are a MUCH better choice :D but hey if it's a gift then better take her to get spray tanned!

i think if she likes to tan then yes it's a good gift

but just so you know tanning beds are only slightly better than tanning in the sun. it is still bad for you and your skin.
