How to start on a healthy diet?

I want to lose some weight, and some inches of my stomach and waist, but it's hard for me. I have to drink soda pop, because the caffeine in it helps me in track- or is there anything healthy that has caffeine in it? And, I have a (minor) addiction to chocolate milk..(: I also play basketball, and I think this will be my last year of track, but I'm not sure. Is there something out there that will help me achieve my goal?

Awee! You sound little a mini me! I was the star of the track team and love basketball! Never give up on that xo. Seeing as though you seem to like the energy from the pop why not have an energy bar instead. Caffeine and the carbohydrates are not only horrible for you, but ruin your teeth. Which is never a good look on a girl. Start by setting a simple goal - adding something healthy, removing something unhealthy. It's the little things that help. Try doing crunches before you go to bed or a little yoga. It takes commitment and hardwork to loose weight, it won't happen very fast so be patient and don't weigh yourself everyday! One of my sisters is training to be a nutritionist and she loves the site:

Hope that helped if you have any more questions, im always wiling to answer :)

Green or black tea is a healthy alternative to soda - it contains enough caffeine (especially the black one). And it also helps weight loss.
You seem pretty active so I suppose the nutrition part is your only problem? Well as long as chocolate milk is your only addiction I think you're safe :) lol I'm addicted to all kinds of sweets. You should start counting calories if you have the time. It's the most accurate way to keep track of your progress. I personally feel better when I'm in control of everything, so knowing exactly how many calories I take in and burn every day works perfectly for me. If you want to start counting calories, then I suggest using sparkpeople, that site is extremely helpful.
If you don't wanna track everything you eat, then you can also keep things simple and try the old general rules of healthy eating like replacing junk food with vegetables and fruits, switching from high to low-fat and just using your own instinct to portion out everything.
