About
I am a student. I have a wonderful boyfriend. I am a rather average girl... I am a great listener and love to help out and volunteer. I am currently volunteering at the hospital because I have an interest in going into the medical field. Otherwise my life is simple.. just like anyone else's.

Beauty Products .....Beware

I was reading my boyfriend's Popular Science Magazine and I came across an very long article about all the chemical that we put into out bodies that also remain for decades! They also listed some everyday products such as shampoos, hand soaps, lotions, lipsticks, suncreen, plastic bottles..etc and which chemicals to look out for that can be in the ingredients. Some of these ingredients causes birth and developmental defects, hormonal disruption, pancreatic cancers...and some lotions with the ingredient (phthalates also labeled as 'fragrance' can cause reproductive disorders). This article grave out a website that you can check your products with a database collected by a safetly and industry research group. Environmental Working Group's "Skin Deep". They rate most products and tell you on a scale from 0-10 how hazardous the product is and why..(naming the chemicals and how it can affect your body)

I thought this website was interesting... just thinking you guys may want to check it out!

how do these things make it past the FDA then? they cant be that bad if theyre on teh market...call me too trusting but I believe most things are just fine to use and if I were to only use what is absolutely safe with no risk then I wouldnt ever be able to use anything or eat anything-because it seems everything has something bad in it

The magazine said that most chemicals in use today are untested and unregulated so the National Report on Human Exposure to enviormental chemicals have produced a study. Also another reason is that they said 'Cosemetics and general beauty products are rarely tested for long-term health effects, let alone potential effects on a fetus.' This was just a basic article for awareness.. and knowledge. Of course we can never take everything out of our lives or avoid all things that can harm our bodies.... even too much of a good thing is bad.
