Is there a way to make football more interesting?

So my boyfriend loves football and took me to a game but i was SO bored. I didn't cheer because I couldn't focus on the game. Since I was so boring he spent the game talking to this other girl sitting next to him that actually liked football. I was afraid he was falling in love with her just because she liked football. I dont know what to do. Any help?

look up how to play it and then make little bets with him to make it fun and he will be surprised u know about it dont bet like money or anything lol just be like hey "bet you that #50 is gunna score a touchdown in the last quartar" or something and it becomes kinda like a competition i do that with my older brother when he watches it

truthfully foodball is a game you have to really be into for it to matter. i just see it as a bunch of guys doing the same thing over and over again for 4 quarters

but really try looking up cool moments in football on youtube and football bloopers stuff like that. where you can see some of the closeups of some of the 'amazing football catches' so you can see there are some crazy things that can keep your attention when they happen and just remeber it's about loving your team and rooting for your team.

if you don't feel strongly about your team then that's just going to hurt you learning to enjoy football as well. i'll sit and watch it with my bf sometimes but usually i'm on the computer and just looking up when there's an awesome catch or someone gets hurt lol

I empathize with you! that is the toughest thing in the world to do. i have been dating a guy who loves loves loves football and have sat through tons of games straining to break the silence some way through the entire cold weather affair. then theres monday night football, and sunday all day, and fantasy football and the fantasy football league after the seasons over.i taught myself some stuff and actually bought a book called "smart girls guide to sports" which tells you how to act during games and watching them and basics about the games, it actually helped some. theres tons of stuff on teh internet too to look up and learn plus theres nothing wrong with asking questions-they like that to an extent just be smart about it and try to learn stuff and act interested.and wait til commercial or half time. and about the other girl...its like this. hes with you cuz he likes you. if he decides he wants a girl who knows about football then you are not the girl for him-tell him this casually upfront if that becomes a problem. if he wants a girl who likes football then thats fine but football isnt everything and shouldnt be his main thing he likes in a him you may not know football or care but you can learn it and try to care for him and show him theres way more to you than whether or not you know about a sport, and hopefully he'll see that

@maeve: hitting a home run is baseball, not football. football is a touchdown. ;)

but as for you sweetie, if you really don't want to watch football, just explain to him that it isn't your thing. if he likes you, he will understand. if you want to try and understand, ask him questions. guys LOVE teaching girls new things! try watching monday night football with him and having him explain to you what just happened, etc. i was raised in a football/baseball house, so i wouldn't mind watching the game if my boyfriend wanted to watch it (he hates sports). don't do anything you don't want to do. :)

Yea I agree with Maeve, you can start by learning the rules and how the game is played. Ask your boyfriend questions! he will love to teach you. Then try to watch his favorite team little by little. This will take some time. don't worry, he will not fall in love with a girl just because of football.
