Do i need to switch to shampoo for color treated hair after dying it or can i continue using regular

I dyed my hair a couple of shades darker than my natural chestnut brown. I want to know if it's necessary to switch to a shampoo specifically for colored hair or can i continue using my regular shampoo? I used the herbal essences creme, is this a good brand? Or does it really matter which brand you use? Any info on that too would be appreciated. Thanks!

you need one that says for color treated hair or safe for chemically treated hair. at least use a moisturizing one that specifically says moisturizing. also if you go to a salon or buy professional grade products, your color will last a whole lot longer

Yea I do believe salon quality shampoos do matter and make a difference. I was always told that by any hair stylist. I notice that my color lasts longer and my hair does not feel as dry. I have also used custom colored shampoo which you can get that matches what you dyed your hair and it deposits color every time you use it. It was okay... not worth the money... to me.

it is best to switch to a shampoo and conditoiner for color treated hair

but i found what works great is this color wash for brunette hair

look in my lists under 'stuff i use' to see the one i got from walmart. after you conditon (you can wash with your normal shampoo and conditoner) you put the brunette gloss stuff on and let it set for a few mins while you shave or whatever (it does make the palms of your hands darker while your in the shower but it washes off before you get out)

you only need to use it once every few days but i loved it. it took the black out of the tips of my hair that the styliest messed up and kept it looking great
