how to make nail polish stay on my nails longer

i used to put on a clear coat before i painted my nails so they wouldn't get stained but my nail polish would peel off in whole pieces so i stopped using it. i'm thinking it might be because i'm in cosmetology school and i'm constantly running my hands through wet hair. i'm not sure though.

any ideas to make it last longer?

thanks :)

It could be because of your school, but trying using different nail polish, and put 2 layers not just one,and also I use a clear nail polish before. :))

yes...i would definately try a different polish because it really shouldn't do that..:( I think 2 coats really helps a lot too and also try using a clear top coat for the extra protection.

Two coats could work, but make sure the first one dries before putting on the 2nd coat. Also, you could try using an emery board on the clear undercoat. This will roughen it up and let the top coat adhere better.
