Are strappless dresses a bad choice for cone shaped bodies?

i have a huge upper body and i want to wear strappless dresses but they never seem to look like they do in my mind. So im just wondering if it is actually a bad choice considering my upper body. Also i have a big rib cage, if that counts for anything.

Well You can go for a strapless, but it depends on the illusion the specific dress gives off. What you have to aim for is balance between your upper and lower half. Black has slimming effects , for example which would just make your lower half seem even more small as compared to your upper half. So, you can go for a strapless dress, just try to get one that balances your body and looks well on you.

Choose one with either a belt/sash/corset top in a neutral color if possible. This slims the top and moves the focus. Make sure the bottom has plenty of volume to balance out your top, bonus points if the bottom is in an eye catching color that draws attention away from your top and put focus on your nice hips and legs.
