so, i'm writing a novel.

[yes it is going really good so far. everyone who's read it liked it, my teacher submitted it in a contest and it's going to state! yay! sorry for my little bit of bragging :]

anyways, i'm having trouble with dialogue.

so added little boy to the story.

he's about four and i don't want him to speak like an aldult.

keep in mind he just learned how to talk.

so how would i make it seem as if it's a little boy talking, not a fictional character?

the boy's older brother's name is Collin, and i want him to pronounce it wrong [along with other words] but i want to know if this would make my writing seem less professional? like if i made him say 'Cowwin' or something like that.

what do i do!

See the patterns? They mostly replace the beginning of a world vs the end or middle. Kids have alot trouble with pronoucing the letters C , K, M, and L. Any words that require alot of tongue use. That is way normally babies first words are 'Da'ddy vs 'Mmmmm'ommy.

Well, if you somehow make it very clear it's him that saids it wrong, and it's not you that made a mistake it should be fine. Also, there are other ways to make a character seem young. Like using simple words and not having him say anything complicated.
