Volcanic eruptions can cause vibrations and earthquake like simulations near the area where the eruption may take place. Sometimes people will feel the earth quake like movement right before a volcano erupts. I guess that is how they are related. Eruptions can be violent and right before the ground can shift and vibrate violently.

pressure in the volcano builds up and just as the volcano is about to erupt the pressure is released and the ground shakes which is a earthquake.

or maybe it means as

both caused by the earts plates moving into, away from or along side of eachother. as earthquakes are casued my sudden movements in two plates and volcanic eruptions are caused by one plate being pushed under another causing the rock to melt as it moves deeper into the magma causing the pressure in the magma chamber to build due to the extra melted rock then the pressure is too high and the volcano erupts

Hope they help x
