The sum of 2 numbers is 29, while their difference is 5...Here's the equation---

x-(29-x)=5

x-29+x=5

2x-29=5

2x=34

x=17

can u pls tell me why this happened????

first you have to get the 29-x out of ( ) so you flip it instead of - it's +

then you combine the like unknown numbers. there are 2 so 2x means 2 times what ever x is

then to narrow it down you add 29 to the other side cause you have to flip the - and add it to the other side to get rid of if

then to get rid of the 2x (which i said means two times x) you have to divide the number on the other side by the 2



then it leaves you with x = 17 so to check it plug 17 into the original equation

ok so..

x (-29+x ) = 5

u multiply the brackets by x thats why u get

2x-29=5

thn you +29 to each side so that the -29 on the left goes and 34 is added to the right

2x=34

then you divide 34 by 2 to get the 2x to change to x so you are left with

x=17
