First time pap test

Tomorrow I'm going for my first pap test and I've talked about it with my sister a while ago, but I don't know really what to expect. Is it awkward or does it hurt? Will you know right away if something's wrong? Any information would be helpful

first they take you to a room and ask you to dis-robe and put on the paper gown

the dr comes in and talks to you for a few mins then she may give you a boob exam and make sure you know how to do those at home

when she goes down stairs it can be a lil strange but you can't see her and she's seen everything so don't worry.

usually there is a finger and she'll put pressure from the outside on your lower stomach to make sure everything is in the right place.

then when she actually does the smear they use a metal item that holds the way open that can be a lil uncomfortable and cold but it's pretty fast. she'll take a sample with a q-tip and you'll know if there's anything going wrong with that in a week or two.

they can tell that day if your preggers or something doesn't Look right

You will just have to tell yourself to relax. No matter how many times you go it is always awkward. You many not know instantly if something is wrong unless you know now something is wrong or feel like something is wrong. The doctor is usually very gentle but it just does not feel pleasant with the speculum there.. ever. So just tell yourself to relax and you will need to try to relax the muscle down there.
