I just took a psychology exam so i feel like a weight has been taken off me and i'm in a good mood.

Reciprocals are what you have to know for this.
Multiplying by ____ is the same as dividing by 12 the answer is 1/12

example (multipying by 1/12)
2 x 1/12 = what?
steps:
1. multiply across and you get 2/12
2. reduce 2/12 and you get 1/6

now compare it to ( dividing by 12)
2 / 12
steps:
1. reduce it and you'll get 1 / 6

both of the answers you get are the same.
So to answer your question :

1. Multiplying by 1/12 is the same as dividing by 12
2. Dividing by 1/3 is the same as MULTIPLYING by 3
more examples:
a. multiplying by 5/3 is the same as dividing by 3/5
d. multiplying by .25 is the same as dividing by 4

just think opposites. if it's multiplying by something, the same would be dividing by it's opposite (the number flipped, if it's a whole number it's 1 / over the number)

Hope I helped you understand that concept.
