yeah, im not a fan of pro active either. try baking soda-just mix it with water for a thick paste and spread it on your face and let it dry or use it as an exfoliator scrub. diluted apple cider vinegar will help the oiliness. bananas help maintain moisture. citrus fruits help with the oiliness as well. black heads come when the dead skin turns black from the air hitting it and because its dead. so dont let the skin die by keeping it exfoliated.

also look at your diet. i know that when my face acts up, it means im not eating well enough. are you getting enough water? are you eating more sweets than you are healthy foods? also, are you getting enough exercise? stress also has a big role in acne problems.

look into clearskin products by avon. my brother started using them first and saw results and then i used it and saw results. i would say to try neutragena bar soap, but i'm not sure how it would work on the days when your face is dry. just a side ques. how is your skin right before or during your menstrual cycle? the flucuation in hormones may cause the change in skin. something that really helped my skin also was birth control. i dont know how old you are, but you might want to look at that, if your parents dont mind.

When my face breaks out i exfoliate it (scrub away the dead skin and dirt with a facial pad) with some AcheFree cleanser on it then i put a thin coat of Aloe gel before i go to bed, like a mask on my face, then in the morning i wash it off and use a light lotion to moisturize my skin (i dont put any in the T zone on my face cause then it gets to oily)

And then the next night i do the same thing but i dont exfoliate my face again (I only do that one to two times a week) i just clean it with the AcheFree stuff again. your face should be alot clearer!! The Aloe gel works like a charm!

do about the the same as Bethany, I use Neutrogena bar soap because it's light and gentle on the skin, in a circular motion, to soften the skin, use an exfoliating facial scrub (St.Ives) an then, rinse, add moisturize + SPF ( Biore Hydrating and Defending Moisturizing + SPF30) and lastly I put on Neutrogena acne free cream, i don't have acne or breakouts ever , lol, i just use it because it makes my skin look amazing the next morning.

Why don't you use oil blotting papers throughout the day. this will help remove excess oil from your face.

It's tough, because there are so many factors involved in acne and it's different for everybody. Exfoliation, diet, water, all are good suggestions. For me, the more medicated the soaps were that I used, the more my skin freaked out. Now I use the most gentle products that I can. It took a while for my skin to calm down, but eventually I got things back under control. I use a soap-free cleanser like Cetaphil, and my skin really likes just plain old Lubriderm. And hey, because acne medications can be drying, that can cause your skin to create more sebum so that's another reason not to overdo it.

If oil bothers you, you might also want to try a mositurizer made for oilier skins, like Vichy's Normaderm or Garnier Pure Shine Control. They don't moisturize enough for *me* and they have some acne medications in them so personally, I'm very careful using stuff like that, but they might help you.
