the picture you have there was most likely done with a curling iron. curling irons take a long time and you need to use some sort of holding spray and heat protectant spray. it also works better if you have naturally curly or wavy hair, and curling iron curls dont stay as long as natural curls or sponge rollers, if you want to use sponge rollers and have longer hair then I would suggec=st trying thoese on damp hair, then smoothing out the curls with your fingers and some smoothing creme-not a hairbrush! until you get smoother less springy curls cuz rollers can really spring your hair up tight, you can also try hot rollers but again, they can lose curl quicker. the nice ringlet type curl like the ones in the picture rae done that way, the ones that are popular now are more wavy and usually requre wavy hair. you can buy these things at sallys called curlformers they work well but you have to leave them in overnight usually

What your going to need:

1-Hairspray in a bottle (this is what your gonna spritz your hair with, i like Garnier Fructis Curl shaping spray )

2-Curlying iron 1 or 1.5 inchs wide.

3-Hairspray in a can. (I like to use Garnier Fructis Flexible control spray, its in a tall green can at walmart)

Step 1

Flip hair over and lightly spritz hairspray on underside. Flip upright and spray on the top. Finger-tousle as it dries.

Step 2

Grab a 1-inch section of hair and hold upright (like pull the hair right up this way your curls are more towards the crown of your head vs only the bottom), Wrap your hair around the iron and hold for about 10 to 15 secs. Gently release and the continue all around head.

Step 3: Run fingers through hair lightly once to make them look more natural and then finish with hairspray (spray all around hair) if needed.

mine is sooo straight that it wouldnt hold curls...but i found a solution that works for my hair....my hair is very thin and straight too....i spray the bottom of my hair that i want to curl with hairspray, then i piece it, curl it and spray again and i get the cutest bouncy curls ever. :)
